From Breaking News to Deployed Code: Unifying CI/CD for a Digital Media Leader
In the fast-paced world of digital media, speed and reliability are paramount. Our client, a leading online news and content provider, struggled with slow, manual deployment processes across their web, iOS, and Android platforms. This bottleneck hindered their ability to innovate and respond to market demands. prAIor.com was brought in to engineer a modern DevOps platform that would automate their entire software delivery lifecycle.

Project Goals
Unify the CI/CD process for all platforms (Web, iOS, Android) into a single, automated pipeline.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for reliable and repeatable environment provisioning.
Achieve zero-downtime deployments and automatic scaling capabilities.
Drastically reduce the time from development to delivery.
Our Approach
**Assess & Design:** We conducted a deep-dive analysis of their existing workflows, identifying key bottlenecks. We then designed a scalable, container-based architecture on AWS using Kubernetes and a unified pipeline strategy with GitLab CI.
**Automate & Unify:** We implemented the solution using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and built reusable GitLab CI templates. This allowed all development teams to adopt the new, automated process with minimal friction, ensuring consistency and security across all applications.
Solution
- **Unified CI/CD with GitLab & Docker:** We built a centralized CI/CD pipeline that automatically builds, tests, and deploys containerized applications. This single source of truth eliminated inconsistencies and dramatically simplified the release process for all platforms.
- **Scalable Infrastructure with Kubernetes & Terraform:** We migrated their services to Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service), managed entirely through Terraform. This enabled auto-scaling to handle millions of users during breaking news events and scaled down automatically to optimize costs.
- **Comprehensive Monitoring with Prometheus & Grafana:** We integrated a robust monitoring stack to provide real-time visibility into application performance and infrastructure health, allowing for proactive issue resolution.
Results
- Empowered developers to deploy features independently and on-demand, multiple times a day.
- Achieved 100% uptime during major global news events, serving peak traffic flawlessly.
- Freed up over 10 hours per week for each developer, allowing them to focus on innovation instead of manual release tasks.
